Today is World Animal Day and it should make stop and think about a few things. For when we mess up the world, we do it not only to ourselves but to the whole system too...
If I stab myself in the eye with a knife, the whole body suffers, not just the eyeball. Our treatment of other species tells us much about ourselves - When we kill for pleasure, for sport, for "culture" we are damaging the whole body.
It's World Animal Day and I'd like to share a 3 things with you:
1. El caracter de un toro - a short video that breaks apart the myth that the bull is bred to fight. Here is a "fighting" bull, an animal looking for companionship, for play and for care. Anger is on the eye of the beholder.
2. A famous martial artist Mas Oyama used to fight bulls to demonstrate his bravery and lethal karate skills, allegedly killing them with a single punch. Here is my response to that: One Last Thing is free today (grab it quick) on Amazon - and tells the story of not just what happened when the Animal Defense League comes knocking on Mas Oyama's Door, but other stories of animal participation in the history of eastern philosophy and the martial arts. Watch this video, download a free book. Eat less meat.
3. Fellow blogger and animal campaigner wild cherry is putting out an offer today on her blog here. Get the Corrida themed puppets for free this weekend and celebrate - World Animal Day.
