The very disappointing bit of card
After 20 years of avoiding having to CANJEAR my license, I have a last succumbed to pressure.

If you have not read Part 1 yet, check out the TAPA section on the right : Driving License

Part 2
The letter arrived a week or so back, stating we had just 10 days to return to the Traffic office in Granada to hand in our British License. Why just 10 days? I phoned the number on the  letter to find out, but was received by just a recorded message. Not even an option to hang on to talk to a real person. So....stupidly we assumed two things that I really should have known after so long in this country. But no one answered the phone, and I did try.  But it just goes to show that time means nothing when it comes to paperwork.

The first mistake was to arrive during Corpus Week as the whole city - and I mean the whole city -  was closed. This was of course omitted in the invite to attend  - I should point out. As we do not live in the city, we had no idea Corpus would be so disruptive, given in our town its almost ignored by everyone other than the fanatical post communion crowd. But, you live and learn,

Secondly, we assumed that after such a long process to get this far, innumerable trips back and forth to Traffico - we would at last be handed over a nice new driving license in exchange for our long held British variety. At last I.D ! Yeah....since the demise of the Residency Card this was the only option other than the passport.

But no. Despite bringing in yet more copies and copies of copies, we were left with a small bit of card and told that if the nice plastic ones do not turn up in 3 months, come back and tell them.

Thanks, I said, will do.
